It stems from my family. Fashion is in my blood. I grew up seeing my mother, my aunts, my father, and my grandmother put together stylish looks. My mother would take me to fashion shows when I was younger. That also fuelled my passion for fashion. I loved looking through magazines and watching award shows just to see the latest fashion looks. I would also play dress up in my mother’s clothes. I would put on her slips, put belts around them, add a hat a purse, and pose for polaroid pictures.
Where do you go to be fashion inspired?
Music inspires my fashion. I listen to songs and imagine looks to flow with the songs. Also traveling gives me inspiration. Going to art shows, and researching vintage looks, or watching old movies also inspires my fashion looks.
Who are some of your celebrity style crushes?
I admire Tracee Ellis Ross. Her style is simple and chic. She makes anything looks stylish. I also love her mother’s style, Diana Ross. I love singer Kelis’ style, and I love almost everything 90’s.
How would you describe your personal style and how did you develop it?
I would describe my style as classic. Mostly everything I wear can be worn 10 years ago or 10 years from now.
What are 5 pieces you think every girl should have in her fashion arsenal?
Do you have any fashion rules when putting together an outfit?
My only rule is to make sure you’re comfortable.
If you could by styled by anyone who would you choose?
Hmmmmm…..I feel like I do an awesome job with styling myself lol. But if I had to choose, maybe Misa Hylton or Law Roach.
What is your favorite item of clothing and why?
My favourite clothing item is my old Howard University T-shirt. It’s one of the most comfortable pieces of clothing I own. I could wear it every day.
If you could only wear one outfit for an entire week what outfit would that be?
Some black leggings, a black crop top, some fly sneakers, and a camouflage jacket.
What fashion tips and tricks can you offer our readers?
Always buy quality, staple pieces that you can wear repeatedly and pair with different looks. Style is not about how many clothes you can buy, it’s about how many looks you can create with the clothes you already have.
