What are your two favorite brands from our STYLEFAV website?
I love Girlfriend Collective so much. Comfiest leggings I own and the most flattering sports bra too. I also love Paige Denim . It’s a bit of a splurge for me, but they are one of the only brands I buy my denim from.
Who takes your photos?
It totally depends! I really don’t have one go-to photographer. I’ve had the pleasure of working with a lot of very talented local photographers, but a lot of my photos are simply taken by my best friend Brigitte or my mom (or really whoever I’m hanging out with).
Where is the best place to get food in LA?
There are so many amazing spots. I am plant-based, and some of my favorite vegan spots are: Fresh LA (very aesthetic inside and some of the best pressed juices and cookies I’ve ever had), Nic’s on Beverly (cute + upscale patio and an amazing deep dish pizza—also you have to get the toffee pudding), and anything by Matthew Kenney. Matthew Kenney runs an upscale restaurant in Venice called Plant Food + Wine, a counter-serve spot in Culver City called Makeout, and he collabed with La Duree to make a fully plant-based location in Beverly Hills. He also has a pizza place in Venice with some of the best vegan pizza I’ve ever had. Last but not least, I definitely recommend supporting small businesses like @themoodyvegan — their matcha cookies are unreal.
Describe an outfit inspired by LA.
LA style is actually super casual, which kind of bums me out sometimes as someone coming from NYC where everybody is a bit more extra and less boho. Since moving to LA I’ve definitely incorporated more boyfriend jeans , light jackets , and maxi skirts into my wardrobe. I think this was a very LA outfit.
What is your favorite thing about LA and why?
I really love that people in LA are very happy to think differently than the masses. People make fun of LA residents for being into crystals, or breathwork classes, or sex parties, or whatever—but my favorite thing about LA is that it’s really easy to find people who share your views and values even if they’re not status quo. Oh, and the weather is amazing.
What are 5 things in your closet that you could not live without?
1. My adidas ultra boost sneakers—they’re always my go-to for traveling or running errands.
2. My MinkPink dolman-sleeved leopard print cardigan—perfect for throwing over my fit for chilly LA nights.
3. My LA Made basic white tee. I don’t really like corporate style, so when I have to be office-appropriate I usually go for a basic t-shirt. If I wanna wear it for a night out, I’ll lose my bra.
4. A good, comfy but cute, long dress. I like to wear dresses when I travel because I find them comfier than leggings. I got a few cute dresses from Forever 21 last winter that are my faves right now.
5. A black crop top—I can’t call out one because I literally have so many, but somehow I always need more. Honestly, same for white ones.
Where does your style inspiration come from?
This has always been a hard question for me, because for me I think it’s very subconscious and also from a young age. Ever since I was a kid I loved leopard print, heavy hardware/spikes, leather, and high heels. The trends come and go, and obviously my style somewhat changes with the trends, but these staples never really falter for me. I think a lot of it comes from my Great Aunt, who is sort of my role model.
Coffee, Smoothie or Tea?
Tea all day every day! Just last night I was over at my friend’s place and his throat was sore from yelling at protests all day, and I legit had tea in my bag ready to go because that’s how obsessed with tea I am. I drink green tea every day (if not multiple times a day).
What is something our readers would be surprised to learn about you?
I am a total nerd and a total introvert. The way I dress tends to make people think that I’m a party girl or that I’m very outgoing or tough, but I’m totally the opposite (at least until you get to know me). My idea of a perfect night would include tea, a book, and being in bed by 10 PM.
What is your process for creating Instagram content?
It wasn’t until semi-recently that I put more of a process in place. I create social content for brands as a social media consultant, and I plan their content weeks (if not months) in advance. I realized I needed to plan my own socials in advance at least a little bit to keep up with the amount of posting I wanted to do. So, I try to plan two IG posts in advance at the minimum most weeks. If I’m shooting something for a paid collaboration, I’ll make a specific point to pick an outfit, schedule a photographer, etc. But most of the time otherwise my photos are just taken when I’m out at dinner with a friend, at an event, or when a photographer friend and I decided to make some magic.
What is your favorite part of creating content for your Instagram?
As my page has grown and I’ve gotten the opportunity to collaborate with more brands, I actually really enjoy having a “reason” to style a shot around a product or theme. There’s also nothing better than when one of my followers reaches out letting me know that they are loving a product I recommended, or really resonated with a caption or article I’ve written.
