Your Instagram bio hosts the term “ex-couture nomad” can you explain this to our readers?
I have worked in fashion since I was studying Fashion Merchandising at VCU. I worked with couture designers in marketing and business development and I constantly moved to different countries therefore I am an ex-couture nomad.
How would you describe your relationship with fashion?
I have always loved fashion since I was a little girl. I was known for changing my outfits sometimes 3x a day and being able to do so notably quickly. I grew up to study fashion and worked in different parts of the world. In the past, my work made me feel differently about fashion because my creativity was being dictated. Most recently, I have fallen in love with fashion again as though I am a little girl constantly creating. Through the IG platform I am able to create whatever and however I please without being directed by a superior or “boss.” I get to work with brands that want me to take the wheel on the creativity so its actually quite beautiful.
How do you feel about fashion trends and have any trends become staples in your personal style?
I adopt fashion trends based on the likability that I would wear the style more than one time. Oversized blazers have become a major staple in my personal style. I feel like they complete an outfit like icing on a cake. Other trends I have made staples include a major lined lip, statement boots and stacked rings.
What three words would you use to describe your personal style?
I think this changes often for me because I don’t like to be defined by a specific style. Right now, relaxed, romantic, chic.
What’s the best fashion advice you’ve ever received and who was it from?
If you are passionate then you can create. -An old boss.
What are some of your current fashion obsessions?
Colored eye-liner, oversized boyfriend jackets, white boots, 70’s inspired shades.
Do you have any fashion rules when putting together an outfit?
Asking myself is this “too boring” or “too basic” if so, then I change.
What is your favorite item of clothing and why?
Right now a gray checkered oversized blazer because it goes with absolutely EVERYTHING.
If you could raid anyone’s closet, who would it be?
Simi and Haze Khadra. Their style is so eclectic and SO daring!!
Picture yourself in 25 years what are you wearing?
So I would be 52. Probably an insanely tailored beige pantsuit with stilettos.
