Summer Smoothies To Enhance Your Style

Summer ! The sun is out , the temperatures are rising and everyone is just happier. With the rising heat come sweet treats to cool you down. Smoothies are a great way to get your summer treats in a healthy way without a lot of hassle.  We’ve got three exciting and easy to make summer inspired smoothies that you can help you beat the heat in the summers and give you some summer nostalgia in the winters!

1. Summer Sunshine 

This smoothie just requires 4 simple ingredients that will definitely brighten up your morning. The ingredients combine and create a vibrant yellow which is nice to look at. Not only is this smoothie nice to look at but it’s  ingredients also provide some positive benefits to your diet. Bananas and mangoes are both good sources of fibre which will help to keep your digestive tract healthy and regulated. While pineapples are found to have high amounts of thiamin a vitamin in the B family that is involved in the production of energy. 

Ingredients 

  • 1 Banana 
  • 1/4 Cup of Frozen Mango 
  • 1/4 Cup of Frozen Pineapples 
  • 3/4 Cup of Plant-based milk ( almond milk, coconut milk, etc.) 

Instructions

Place all ingredients into a blend of your choice and blend until smooth.  Pour into a mason jar add your straw and top with coconut flakes, sliced bananas or chia seeds.

2. Berry Blast 

This smoothie is loaded with a variety of berries and it is good for that morning pick me up but it is also a good replacement for that late afternoon sweet treat that you might be reaching for.  Arguably one of the most healthy foods ever, berries are bursting with antioxidants which help to fight inflammation and aid with digestion. They are also extremely beneficial to your skin. 

Ingredients 

  • 1 Frozen Banana
  • 1/2 Cup Frozen Blueberries 
  • 1/2 Cup Frozen Raspberries 
  • 1/4 Cup Pineapple Juice 
  • 1 Cup Vanilla Greek Yoghurt 

Instructions 

Add your berries and greek yoghurt to your blender and blend.  Once those have begun to blend add your pineapple juice and allow all the ingredients to blend until smooth. 

3. The Garden Green

Green smoothies have gained great popularity over the last few years and though they may seem a bit daunting they are actually quite easy to make. They gain their vibrant green color from the green fruits and vegetables used to create them.  There is a simplicity about green smoothies that people might not realize, to create them requires just a three-part formula that can be altered or embellished based on your personal preference. All you need is : 

  1. Fresh leafy greens
  2. Flavorful Fruit
  3. A Liquid Base

Green smoothies can help to improve hydration and digestion as a result of the high levels of folic acid found in the green vegetables used,  green smoothies can also help to aid with depression. 

Here is our green smoothie recipe. 

Ingredients 

  • 1/2 Avocado
  • 1 Cup Frozen Pineapple Chunks
  • 2 Cups of Spinach
  • 2 1/2 Cups of Almond Milk
  • 1 tbsp of Chia Seeds 

Instructions 

Add avocado, spinach and almond milk and blend.  Then add pineapple chunks. Chia seeds can be added to the blended mixture or can be sprinkled on top.

Smoothies are healthy, colourful  and easy to make. Mixing and matching your fruits and veggies with plant based milks, juices and even fruit nectars can create endless combinations of beautiful and beneficial smoothies  so get blending!
