What inspired your Instagram handle @theminimalistmaximalist?

For a long time, I’ve struggled to find some sort of ‘label’ for my own sense of style as I’ve always enjoyed keeping all my outfits simple while adding extra embellishments and playing with layers. So, I figured why not combine both? Thus, Minimalist Maximalist was born.

How would you describe your Instagram aesthetic?

Perhaps fashionable and clean? My feed is strategically curated so everything matches well.

Where do you find inspiration for your content creation?

Fashion magazines mostly. I love the gorgeous editorials on Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, just to name a few, and how it showcases each individual outfit in a stunning way while telling a compelling story. Instagram is also a big influence since there’s a countless amount of talent found there.

Can you offer some content creation tips and tricks about content creation to our readers?

The first question I ask myself when I plan content for my blog, Minimalist Maximalist, and its corresponding social media is, “What kind of story do I want my images to say?” Aside from captions, images are another form of storytelling that I believe is just as important as captions. Also, knowing what kind of aesthetic you want to utilize is another important factor. Keeping it cohesive while remaining true to your own aesthetic is naturally attractive to the eye and makes you stand out, but in a great way.

Coffee or Tea?

Both, but I have a slight preference towards coffee. 🙂

How would you describe your personal style?

It’s a mixture of minimalism and maximalism dressed up 24/7. My entire wardrobe is built around basics that have extra, extra attention to detail – from bold prints with different textures and cuts to pairing striking yet minimalistic jewelry and handbags with expressively maximalist footwear, just to name a few.

How did you develop your current personal style?

I experimented with clothes for a long as I could remember. Like many people, I’ve had my taste of trying out fads and trends throughout the years. After discovering what I liked/disliked, I combined it with my then mostly vintage minimalist wardrobe to create my current wardrobe today: minimalist maximalist.

What is a must have fashion accessory?

A great pair of shoes! They say that the outfit makes a woman, but I’d like to think the shoes she choses is even more important as it finalizes the overall look.

If you could collaborate with any brand of your choice, which brand would it be and what would you create?

Either Tom Ford, Jacquemus, or Iris van Herpen. I would love to design a collection that features mostly dresses or some sort of blazer sets while highlighting different textures and stunning shades. I’d also like to design accompanying footwear and accessories, if possible.

If you could have any job you wanted, what would that be?

To be the next Anna Wintour. A gal can dream, right?
