What’s your earliest memory associated with fashion?
I have loved fashion since I was a child. I remember being 4 years old and playing in my mom’s fur coat and her stilettos (she was known to love wearing stilettos when I was growing up).
What is your favourite fashion era? 60’s 70’s 80’s etc.
I would have to say the 80’s. I’m an 80’s baby and absolutely love padded shirts, blazers with shoulder pads, boxy shirts, etc.
How would you describe your personal style and how did you develop it?
My personal style is relaxed/traditional/feminine/modern. I have many different styles. I wear whatever catches my eye and makes me feel good. This is how I developed my style; simply wearing whatever made me felt good and not going with current trends.
What advice would you offer to our readers trying to develop and define their personal style?
My advice would be to find someone who you can get style inspiration from, then try to make different looks based on that inspiration to see if you like them. After that, purchase pieces that can be part of a capsule wardrobe so that they can be paired with multiple pieces/multiple ways….and don’t forget to have fun! You don’t have to have one specific style; you can always experiment with different looks.
List five pieces you think every girl should have in their fashion collection.
Everyone woman should have a versatile black dress (can be dressed up or down), a pair of well-fitting denim, a white button down, a neutral blazer, and a nice pair of pumps.
What’s the greatest fashion advice you’ve ever received and who was it from?
The greatest fashion advice I received was to make thoughtful purchases and ensure that they’re items that can be worn multiple ways. I honestly can’t remember who told me, but I’ll never forget the words because it has helped saved a lot of money.
What some up and coming fashion brands you think our readers should know about?
I’m not sure I would call them up and coming, but I absolutely love TLZF and The Frankie Shop.
Do you have any fashion rules when putting an outfit together?
My fashion rules for putting outfits together are 1) make sure your clothes fit for your specific body type 2) accent one part of your body with your outfit 3) accessorize!
If you could go back in time and tell your past self DON’T WEAR THAT! Describe which outfit that would be.
I would go back to the year 2004 (2 years before I finished high school) and tell myself to please take off those capris with hi-top socks, air force 1’s, and a bedazzled belt with my name on it. I cringe thinking about it.
Picture yourself in thirty years what are you wearing?
In 30 years, I will be 63 years old and I imagine I will still be fairly in shape and want to look good… so I imagine myself somewhere on the Amalfi Coast (vacationing with my husband), and wearing a floor length, floral maxi dress with a wide brim floppy hat.
